Julian Pridgen AME Zion Candidate for Bishop 2024

Hello, my name is Julian Pridgen and I'm a candidate for the Office of Diocesan in our cherished Zion. I was birthed and elevated in a area called Whiteville, North Carolina, a tiny southeastern farming neighborhood situated in the coastal plains of the state. When it comes to church, my household's origins are deeply grown in the St. Mark AME Zion Church, Whiteville, where the Pridgen name is etched in the keystone of that framework today.

My love for Christ and the church is longstanding as I've served the church from a little boy as an acolyte, usher, aide superintendent of the church school, Christian education, priest, and a lot more. After graduating senior high school, I joined the United States Marine Corps, where I stayed up until my retirement. And while in the Marine Corps, I accepted the call to teach and served Zion churches in the southwestern Delta Episcopal District and eastern North Carolina.

Over the years, I've completely taken pleasure in offering along with the people of Zion as we've done the work of the Lord with each other. And I've been privileged to serve a number of modern and growing congregations that remain excellent properties to their areas even today. Together, we paid off debts early, earlier than anticipated.

We've acquired acres of land to consist of a whole city block plus. And in each scenario, we've participated in community-related concerns that entailed issues of oppression and racism. As I've aided battling people, as we aided battling people jump on track and aided others maintain their lives and even grow in their walk with God.

On one occasion, I bear in mind opening the church doors as we got in touch with the neighborhood family court system, the division of social services, the ladies and boys club. And in the annex of that church, professionals and worried neighborhood participants used parenting classes to battling moms and dads that had gotten in problem with the legislation. It was a beautiful point to see the church at the facility of neighborhood teaming up to satisfy the neighborhood demand.

I can say extra about my own experiences to consist of getting a phone call from the United States White House as they were examining unethical political leaders in the neighborhood. And our neighborhood AME Zion church was suggested as a trusted handy source for that investigation. I can say extra about my collaborate with Fight it out Divinity Institution and my organization with growing in ministry or work sponsored by Fight it out and the Lilly Foundation.

I can additionally say even more about my cherished ecumenical connections, however I'm below today to say to you that I have a vision for our church as we move into the future. It is my hope that we are continually ending up being a spiritually and literally wholesome church, understanding and standing for God as the disciples of Jesus Christ. I'm optimistic about the future of our church and believe that we can flourish with efficient communication to consist of tiny team dialogues at every level of the church, positive review for the functions of sharing and adopting best techniques that can assist us a lot more, be a lot more efficient disciples of Jesus Christ and stewards of Zion Methodism.

I'm very curious about seeking ways to provide even more nurture to priests and their families. And I am very familiar with the vitality of an outstanding laity and neighborhood church as the laity and neighborhood church are the lifeblood to the Zion link. I'm wed to the brilliant, beautiful, industrious, and task-oriented Deborah Register Pridgen, and we have 2 grown-up kids, Julian and Christian, and Christian that lately honored us with Javante, our very first grandchild.

Finally, I believe absolutely that it is the word of God that has actually been and will be the only point that conserves and sustains the church. So wish the church. Pray for Zion.

Pray for those of us on this trip. My name once again, Julian Pridgen, candidate for bishop, as I obtain your confidence and vote. The tranquility of Christ be with you.
